MEET JOEY
NEW LEADERSHIP DELIVERING RESULTS FOR OUR COMMUNITY
Joey learned about the value of public service and helping other people from his family, friends, teachers, coaches, church, and community. After attending Fairmont Senior High School, Joey earned his undergraduate and law degrees from West Virginia University so that he could more effectively advocate for the underdog.
During law school, Joey met his future wife, Heather, when he worked as a public interest intern for Legal Aid of West Virginia. Heather advocates for individuals with behavioral and mental health disabilities. In 2009, Joey and Heather married and moved to Charleston, WV, where they lived for eight (8) years. They always hoped to return home to Marion County.
In 2012, West Virginia Governor Earl Ray Tomblin appointed Joey to be his deputy legal counsel, and later his legislative director. For five (5) years, Joey was a key player in the legislative process, ensuring that state government “worked” for working people and those most in need.
In 2017, Joey and Heather finally returned home to Marion County. Joey works at the Manchin Injury Law Group, where he is proud to represent individuals in personal injury, consumer protection, and civil rights cases.
Now, Joey Garcia is running for the West Virginia House of Delegates to make sure others have the opportunity to move back to Marion County to live, work, and raise a family.
